The invention relates to a joint in spacers for insulating glass with the features of the introductory part of claim 1.
In order to connect the panes of double or multiple insulating glass at a distance from each other, spacers are provided between the panes of glass.
Such spacers may be frames made of metal profiles (aluminum profiles or steel profiles), which are closed by bending or by means of corner joints of several sections to form a frame.
There are also prefabricated spacers, which essentially comprise a strand of thermoplastic or elastoplastic plastic, which is mounted between glass panes, to connect them at a distance from each other to an insulating glass pane. Such prefabricated spacers are known from DE 30 02 904 A, EP 0 152 807 B, US Pat. No. 4,561,929 A, DE 37 96 274 C, DE 102 12 359 A and DE 103 50 312 B.
From the cited documents it is also known that prefabricated spacers have on their in use position outwards, ie in the edge joint between the glass panes of the insulating glass pane facing surface, a diffusion barrier, which is for example a metal strip. This metal band can be corrugated and consists for example of steel.
Furthermore, it is known in the body of the spacer, ie in the plastic strand prefabricated spacers, a desiccant, for example, molecular sieve, is to be incorporated, which serves to keep the gap of the insulating glass pane dry by any water is bound.
A problem with prefabricated distance ha Item is the formation of a diffusion-proof Stoßstelie between the ends of a prefabricated spacer or between the ends of sections of prefabricated spacers.
The invention has for its object to provide an improved joint between the ends of prefabricated spacers available.
This object is achieved according to the invention with the features of claim 1.
Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims, -2-
Since in the invention, the joint between the adjacent ends of prefabricated spacers is bridged by a diffusion barrier, which is integrally formed with the diffusion barrier of one end of the spacers, an absolutely diffusion-tight joint is ensured.
In one embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the protruding end of the diffusion barrier, e.g. of the metal (steel) strip, is fixed by means of adhesive on the outside of the diffusion barrier of the adjacent end of the spacer. This adhesive may be, for example, an adhesive used in the insulating glass industry, especially a butyl rubber-based one.
The impact formation according to the invention can be provided in the region of corners of an insulating glass pane, where two ends of the prefabricated spacer, for example at an angle of 90 ° adjoin one another or else in a straight section of the spacer.
When the ends of the spacer adjoin one another in a straight portion of the periphery of the insulating glass pane, the facing end faces (faces) of the prefabricated spacers may be oriented normal to the longitudinal extent of the spacers or at an acute angle (preferred).
The invention also relates to a method for producing a butt joint according to the invention between adjacent, adjacent ends of spacers, which method is characterized by the features of the independent method claim.
Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the method of the invention are the subject of dependent on the method claim dependent claims.
The invention is applicable to all types of plastic spacers (thermoplastic, e.g., butyl rubber or elastoplastic plastic, e.g., based on polyurethane) having on one side (the outside in the insulating glass) a diffusion barrier, e.g. such as a foil made of metal or plastic, wear.
Further details and features of the invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the partially schematic drawings. -3-
It shows / shows:
Fig. 1 Figs. 2 to 5 Fig. 6 and 7 Fig. 8 Fig. 9 schematically and in cross section, an example of a prefabricated spacer for insulating glass, preparing one end of a spacer for making a butt joint according to the invention, further steps in manufacturing a butt joint according to the invention in a corner region, a butt joint according to the invention in the corner region and an embodiment in which the butt joint according to the invention is provided in a straight section of a spacer for insulating glass.
A spacer 10 to which the invention can be applied is shown schematically and by way of example in FIG. The spacer 10 has a core 1 of plastic, wherein thermoplastic plastics are also considered, such as plastics based on polyurethane and silicone. One of the large surfaces of the spacer 10, namely one of the surfaces which are aligned in the insulating glass transverse to the surface extension of the insulating glass, is covered by a diffusion barrier 3, wherein the diffusion barrier 3 is an example corrugated metal strip, preferably a corrugated steel strip, which at the Insulating glass outer surface of the spacer 10 is provided.
The side surfaces of the spacer 10 carry on both sides in the region adjacent to the diffusion barrier 3 strands of adhesive 5, in particular diffusion-tightness ensuring adhesive based on butyl rubber, and adjacent thereto (in the use position within the strands 5 of adhesive) more strands of adhesive 7 to to ensure a secure adhesion of the spacer 10 on the inner surfaces of the glass sheets 20 of insulating glass.
In order to produce a joint 30 according to the invention in the region of a corner 40 of an insulating glass pane (FIG. 8), the procedure is described in particular as follows with reference to FIGS. 2 to 7.
First, as indicated in Fig. 2, of the spacer 10, a wedge-shaped, emphasized by hatching portion A of its core 1 is removed. Then, the spacer 10 is cut off in the region of the parting line B indicated by dashed lines in FIG.
From the thus prepared end of the spacer 10, as shown in Fig. 3, a designated in Fig. 3 with B area is removed, so that as shown in Fig. 4, a tongue 9 - 4 -
remains of diffusion barrier 3, which projects beyond the end of the spacer 10 with its longitudinal extension at an angle of, for example, 45 ° standing face 11. The spacer 10 provided with the thus prepared end is applied to a glass pane 20, the end coming to rest in the region of a corner 40 (FIGS. 6, 7) or in a straight region (FIG. 9). Now, the second, to be connected in the joint 30 end of a spacer 10, which also has an oblique to its longitudinal extension end face, brought into position (ie applied to the glass pane 20), so that a corner formation, which is 90 ° in the illustrated embodiment, is obtained. It should be noted that in a corner 40 adjacent portions of the prefabricated spacer 10 with each other can include any angle other than 90 °.
On the outer surface of the diffusion barrier 3 of the other end of the spacer holder an order 13 is attached from adhesive. For example, an adhesive based on butyl rubber. Then, as indicated in FIGS. 5 and 7, the protruding tongue 9 (flag) of the diffusion barrier 3 is folded in the direction of the arrow 15 of FIG. 5 or FIG. 7 and by the adhesive application 13 on the outside of the diffusion barrier 3 the other end of the spacer 10 is fixed.
It can be seen that such an uninterrupted diffusion barrier 3 is obtained, since the ends of the diffusion barrier 3 of the two ends of the spacers 10 overlap each other and are sealed together by the application 13 of adhesive.
The result, ie a joint 30 according to the invention in the corner region of an insulating glass pane, is shown in FIG.
The joint 30 according to the invention can also be embodied in a straight region of a spacer 10, as is indicated schematically in FIG. 9. Again, the spacer 10 is prepared at one end, as shown in Figs. 2 to 4.
On the outside of the diffusion barrier 3 of the other end of the spacer 10, an order 13 is applied from adhesive and then the tongue 9 folded in the direction of arrow 15 in Fig. 9, so that a diffusion barrier, which passes through without interruption is formed (overlapping ends of Diffusion barriers 3 of both ends of the spacers 10).
The end faces 11 of the abutting ends of the spacers 10 may, as shown in Fig. 9, be aligned to the longitudinal extent at an acute angle. But it may also be formed a joint 30, in which the end faces 11 of the spacers 10 are formed to the longitudinal extent at a right angle. -5-
In summary, an embodiment of the invention can be described as follows.
A diffusion-proof joint 30 between ends of prefabricated spacers 10, which carry a diffusion barrier 3 on the outside thereof, is achieved by forming at one end of two spacers 10 adjoining one another at a joint 30, a tongue 9 protruding from the diffusion barrier 3 , This tongue 9 is fixed by means of an adhesive application 13 on the outside of the diffusion barrier 3 of the other end of the spacer 10, so that an overlap of the diffusion barrier 3 of both ends 10 is reached. The joint 30 may be in the range of corners 40 of prefabricated spacer frame 10 or in straight areas of spacers 10, so always where ends of Abstandhaltem 10, which are prefabricated, adjacent to each other, be formed.
